His phone had been quiet all day, and after working on his book for hours, he just wanted —needed to hear from her. That was the best he could hope for since he couldn't see her.
Skinny-dipping?
He laughed at the reply, which jumped on his screen after only a few minutes.
Alone? With my... phone? No to both. This phone is too expensive to take swimming and I don't want to skinny dip alone.
The phone was silent for a few more minutes and Roger shifted in the sand to stare out at the dark waves. Finally, the ping of his phone made him fumble it into view. Too bad, I was hoping you would snap a few pictures of you skinny-dipping. Lol—well I certainly am not alone.
Roger was not expecting that, and he felt that same jealousy he felt at the carnival rear its ugly head.
